Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"We loved the restaurant. We didn’t go inside, but the outside part is very nice. We had a table far in the terrace, close to the stones and almost in the forest, and it was delightful. We had some beef and deer and both were extremely full of flavour. As desserts we tried the cheesecake and the crème brûle. Both were also very good. We paid for those four dishes, two glasses of wine and a bottle of water around 110€. The restaurant was totally worth the stop, and if we are ever in the surroundings, we will certainly come back."
"This place is just great, the tour of the facility and the cellar where they keep all their old wine along with the explanation behind it was a nice introduction. The variety of wine served at the table along with the charcuterie and the pasta was all of superior quality. Definitely worth while when you are in the area, sit inside or outside on the terrace for an exquisite view!"
"Crotasc is one of the best and most authentic restaurants of Valtellina/Val Chiavenna. Everything on the menu is traditional of this area and truly fantastic. Portions are very abundant. The wines of Mamete Prevostini do not even need an introduction, we are talking about a legend of Nebbiolo Chiavennasca."
"The restaurant was suggested by our head, Chef Christian Gianni. The ambience is stunning, the Service is very friendly, the food is absolutely amazing. Spinach salad with beetroot dressing, cherry tomatoes and Parmesan…… just delicious…. Main course, Pizzoccheri and Gnocchetti, just wonderful .. it is a little heavy but as a main course for lunch it is perfect .. dessert, vanilla parfait and carrot cake .. very tasty .. we will be back for sure"
"Located just off Chiavenna, Ristorante Crotasc is definitely well worth the drive to dine at. Its stone rooms reveal the history of the crotto and is a destination for those seeking to try Valtellinese cuisine. Good wine list that suits Nebbiolo enthusiasts, but also offering a decent amount of champagne."
"Amazing food and service! And the wine of course! I highly recommend to get a bottle of nebbiolo Botonero from Mamete Prevostini, the house winery"
"Such a wonderful restaurant in such a beautiful place! We came to this restaurant from San Francisco, USA. We tried the restaurant twice. We heard about this restaurant in San Francisco and we had dreamed of coming here for a while. So we travelled to Mese and stayed there for 3 nights. Everything about this restaurant was great! The food with local ingredients was scrumptious. Wine from the owner family was delicious as well. The rustic decor was cool. The service was excellent. Our servers are very friendly and cheerful. We will come back again some day. Until then, we’ll miss you all!"
"This restaurant is situated on the edge of a mountain in a most beautiful setting. The food is elegant and delicious! If you are in Chiavenna it is a must see!"
